So here is a (reasonably) comprehensive guide to what’s what in the Chimera climbing world in 2022…
We are running a league across the next three comp wall sets which are the 16th February, 6th April and 18th May. Those three nights will also have pizzas vans here in situ, and there will be prizes on offer for the league winners. Get involved, come down for a climb or a watch and a pizza, and remember not to take it too seriously... Famous last words.
Who fancies an all-women set? We’ll be celebrating our fantastic setters with just that for International Women’s Day, along with a special women’s clothing demo. If you’ve always wanted to grab some climbing threads but are baffled by sizing and styles, then come along and have a try. You can buy on the night too if you see anything you fancy.
BANFF will be back in Tunbridge Wells on Saturday 19th March. With two screenings, each featuring a different array of adventure films, it is well worth going to. From skiing to climbing, remote terrain to landscapes closer to home, it is guaranteed to inspire and make you want to adventure. Book your tickets by heading to the BANFF website.
The IFSC has a full schedule this year of world cups, with climbing also set to feature in the World Games in Birmingham, USA. Then there are the European Champs in Munich, and the Asian Games in China. The world cups kick off in April in Moscow with bouldering and speed, and the finals are always broadcast live on YouTube.
Who has a bit of a head game? Let’s face it, we all do. Rise and Summit’s Kevin Roet knows more about this subject than most, and he will be at Chimera for one night only for a very special workshop. Looking at everything from how to overcome a fear of falling to how to extract your A-Game when needed, this five-hour session is a must for anyone who finds their limitations aren’t physical. With very limited availability, head to our bookings page and grab a slot while you can.
Oh yes, another thing to make a 2022 comeback is our annual summer fun comp and party. Set to be bigger, more bonkers and more fun than ever, make sure Saturday 16th July is in the diary. Blocs galore, DJ’s getting the party going, a gin bar, games, mayhem and prizes. Dust off those Hawaiian shirts, they’ll be needed
Right, that should keep both us and you busy shouldn’t it? Get those dates in the diary, updates will be across social media so make sure to give us a follow and any questions just get in touch.
